Powerful Sleep Therapy. From an Insomnia Specialist.

Your Sleep Issues

Do you find it hard to sleep? Wake up during the night? Lie awake overthinking? Wake up early and sleep again? You may feel tired after waking up or feel tired or irritable during the day. All these are symptoms of insomnia. They can be caused by stress or depression, noise … or a room that’s too hot or cold. They can also be caused by shift work, jetlag or simply habit.

Help is at Hand

First we’ll explore what’s on your mind. Your anxiety about sleep itself can be part of the issue. Learning ways to switch off and relax, to help you wind down physically and mentally. We’ll examine your evening routine, how you might be overstimulating yourself. Factors like diet and when you eat, your circadian rhythms are all factors that can make a difference.

Frequently asked questions

Insomnia and Sleep Problems

I'm looking for Insomnia Treatment near me. What if I'm too far away from you?

Proximity is not a problem. I offer insomnia treatment at home, which is highly convenient and saves you a journey. Zoom sessions, Teams or Facetime therapy all work well for dealing with Insomnia. And you will get audio recordings to listen to at home at night anyway.

I'm looking for Natural Treatment for insomnia as I don't like taking drugs. Is Hypnosis for insomnia as effective?

Yes, for sleep problem solutions, Hypnotherapy is one the best natural ways to treat insomnia as it involves relaxation, insomnia meditation and pattern changing techniques. It helps overcome sleep anxiety, problems staying asleep and middle of the night insomnia. It’s a great way of managing insomnia without medication.

I have racing thoughts at night. How do I calm my mind?

Racing thoughts, and not being able to switch off at night are common issues with poor sleepers. Especially in todays busy, always-switched-on world. We will relax you, teach you how to allow your thoughts to pass by and not get too attached to or involved in the stories that arise. I have many overcoming insomnia techniques that I use, involving hypnosis, meditations and progressive muscle relaxation processes that can be game changing.

Do you use CBT for Insomnia and how does it work with Hypnotherapy?

Yes I use cognitive behavioral therapy for sleep disorders in combination with hypnotherapy. We look at and monitor your sleep patterns using a sleep diary, and analyse your thinking, what type of thoughts you have that give you trouble sleeping at night.

There are a number of questionnaires we go through together. Then we determine how to deal with what we’ve unpacked – and I then use hypnotherapy scripts and processes as well as powerful breathing exercises to help change your thinking to allow you to calm and settle into a sleep mode.

Do I need to worry if I am not getting 7 or 8 hours sleep a night?

Certainly not! Worrying and your approach to sleep will affect it and can keep you awake. Sleep is something we all do naturally. ‘Trying harder’ to sleep will also have the opposite effect, as sleep does not fall into the category of something you can try harder at to succeed. We need to understand that and implement a different approach – to relax and ease yourself down. So yes, it’s great to get 7 hours or so and it will aid your health. But if it causes you stress and anxiety, that will only feed the problem.

Do I need to keep a Sleep Diary?

To begin with, yes. The reason for this is to ascertain how much sleep you are really getting. Though it’s not going to be 100% accurate as you will need to partially estimate it, it’s helpful to get a better idea, as we are often inclined to be pessimistic about how much sleep we think we are getting. You may be surprised, which will help ease you. At the start of our work on your sleep issues, I will send you some questionnaires, including the sleep diary, so we can get a handle on what the various issues might be.
