My Approach to Hypnotherapy
I practise hypnotherapy combined with CBT.
I also work as a Life Coach and mentor, using mindfulness, ACT and third wave methods. It is highly integrative therapy. Life changing as these can be, research shows that 50% of therapy outcomes are due to the success of the therapeutic relationship – listening and building trust and empathy.

Why should I choose DOCwellness?
Not all hypnotherapy is the same. I practise Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy – a highly evidence-based approach supported by scientific research. I’m also a qualified Life Coach and NLP practitioner. You get a multi-component, integrative therapy approach that examines your thoughts, behaviours and beliefs from multiple angles. I use mindfulness, breathing techniques and meditation alongside Hypno-CBT. In my experience, the more you understand your problem, the better your chances of overcoming it.
Does Hypnotherapy work?
A key question of course – and yes it does and the evidence supports it. When combined with CBT, a meta-analysis by Kirsch et al. found that the combined approach significantly enhanced treatment outcomes, with clients improving more than at least 70% of those receiving CBT alone. An updated 2021 meta-analysis confirmed these findings. Of course, effectiveness varies from person to person and issue to issue, but when hypnotherapy is combined with CBT, the evidence is strong.
What issues can you help with?
I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, stress, insomnia, phobias, panic attacks, stopping smoking, low confidence, unhelpful habits and addictions, chronic pain, weight loss and peak performance. If your issue isn’t listed, please ask — there’s a good chance I can help.
What does a typical session look like?
The first session is different from subsequent ones. We combine talking with assessment — getting to know you, your issues and goals. I then form a treatment plan and let you know how many sessions to expect. My work is highly outcome and process driven — so we don’t spend months talking about the past. I always record the hypnotherapy process for you to keep – for life. My stop smoking programme is different and follows a separate two-session structure.
How many sessions will I need?
Hypno-CBT is targeted, short course therapy – outcome and process driven. You will experience some change pretty quickly but, depending on issue and other factors, expect 3-6 sessions.
What are your rates?
£95-£105 a session. Rates are reduced depending on block bookings of 3 and over – and certain circumstances. Please enquire directly for full rates.
Do you offer Hypnotherapy on Zoom?
Yes — and it’s been proven to work very effectively. Remote therapy via Zoom, Teams and FaceTime is ideal for clients who are busy or live further afield. I’ve helped clients across the UK and the US. See my Areas I Serve page for more details
Where are you based and what areas do you cover?
My clinic is at 20 Westway, Caterham CR3 5TP in Surrey. I see clients from across Croydon, South London and the wider Surrey area. I also offer online sessions via Zoom for clients anywhere in the UK and beyond. See my Areas I Serve page for full details and a map.
